Original drawing in soft pencil, with additional inscriptions in blue ballpoint. 1959. Signed and dated in pencil. Inscribed by Cocteau: ‘ Salut à la 10e Muse du Cinéma - Encore une muse belle et féroce’ (Salutations to the 10th Muse of the Cinema - Another beautiful and forceful muse).
Provenance: The Studio of the Artist. US private collection.
Note: This drawing was probably executed as a design for the cover of cinema festival programme.

On smooth light cream wove paper. Excellent condition; very slight paper handling marks. Sheet: 210 x 136mm. 8 ¼ x 5 3/8 ins.
