Original woodcut in black ink. 1934. Signed in pencil 'Ben Nicholson'; dated 1934. Extremely rare proof hand-printed by Nicholson in 1934 probably before the issued edition. The edition was issued by G.Orobitz, Paris 1935, in the album: '23 Gravures'; it was intended to be 30 impressions for sale and 20 for the artists; Nicholson apparently never received his and the edition was probably never finished.
Original 1934 impressions of 'Five Circles' are extremely rare. (There was a reprint edition in 1962 issued by the Kestnergesellscahft, Hanover.)
