Original monotype printed in colours. 1948. Signed and dated in pencil. Inscribed by the artist with the title. A Unique work . There is no second impression or edition.

Superb impression with excellent fresh colours. On pale cream light wove paper. Print surface in excellent condition; the reverse of the sheet with multiple traces of the printing inks, as is typical of such hand-printed monotypes. Sheet: 22 x 17 3/4ins. Image: 20 5/8 x 16 1/2ins ( 525x420mm)

Macbryde found a particular inspiration in the medium of monotype. The combination of the free painting of the colours and forms onto the plate and the quality of translucence which resulted from the pressure of printing it onto the paper created a unique evocation of light and form which lies midway between painting and printmaking. This is an especially fine example of his work.
