Extremely fine rich impression. On pale cream japan-type paper. Excellent condition; one tiny effectively invisible paper irregularity (1/8ins) near the upper plate edge. 3/4- 1 1/4inch margins. Sheet: 14 3/8 x 10 3/8ins. Plate: 12 1/2 x 7 7/8ins (318x197mm).
This is probably the most famous work in Goeneutte's etched oeuvre. Goeneutte was a close friend of all the main Impressionist painters and exhibited with them. His approach to light is quintessentially Impressionist as is the 'realism' of his themes, but to this he added a sense of style which presages the 'Belle Epoque' period.
