Drawing in black ink with pencil on green-blue wove paper. 1922. Inscribed by Dix in ink: This Book of Drawings is a gift from Uncle Jimmy to Muggeli - 'Dies Bilderbuch schenkt Onkel Jimmy dem Muggeli' (Note: Jimmy was Dix's nick name, Muggeli was the name he gave to Hans who was the son of Dix'x second wife). Dated 'Easter 1922-Ostern 1922'.
Provenance: Bought from the famous dealers Nierendorff in Berlin c.1962.
The black ink very strong and fresh. On blue green stiff wove paper. Excellent condition. The full sheet as drawn - the sheet size slightly irregular. Sheet approx.: 8 1/4 x 6ins (153x210mm).
An unusual and powerful self portrait drawing by Dix with a very interesting history and provenance.
