Lithograph poster in colours. 1958. Proof, signed and dedicated by Chagall in ink. With an original ink drawing of the artist in the form of a goat around the signature and dedication. Dedicated to collectors Ursula and Gerd Hatje; inscribed by Chagall 'Paris Vence 1958' . One of a very small number of proof impressions before the lettering was added for Chagall's exhibition at Galerie de la Ponchette,Nice1958.Exceptionally rare signed and dedicated.

Strong impression with good colours. On light cream wove paper. Slight trace of an old mount aperture mark and time- toning of the sheet. Sheet: 28 3/8 x 20 1/8ins.

This impression of this well known lithograph poster is unique in this form, with the ink drawing surrounding the dedication and hand-signed in ink by Chagall. The composition is taken from the larger scale lithograph of the same theme.
