Original lithograph in green ink on black paper - retouched by Cocteau in white and red chalk. 1959. Signed in white chalk by Cocteau - and also in the stone. Inscribed in chalk as a proof ‘H.C. - hors commerce. Proof before the numbered edition of 197 impressions. (There were c.15 proof impressions and very few special proofs with added hand-colouring by Cocteau - as here). Commissioned by J.P.Loriot, 1959. Initially sold on behalf of a charity 'Bénéfice de la Médicine', Paris 1959.

Excellent impression. On smooth black wove paper. Excellent condition. Full margins. Sheet: 500 x 325mm. Image overall: 365 x 254mm. 14 3/8 x 10 ins.
