In the mid-1950?s there was still a strong anthropomorphic quality in many of Vasarely?s images, the forms reflecting elements of both nature and in particular of landscape. Vasarely greatly admired Arp?s sculpture and may well also have been aware of the experimental prints that he was also making at around this date. There is a beautiful almost lyrical quality in the dark green, grey and black colours and forms typical of Vasarely?s very rare screen-prints of this period.
