Original aquatint (sugar lift) in black ink. February 1947. Exceptional trial proof impression. One of c.3 impressions before the facing of the plate. Before the proofs and the edition for the series: Vingt Poèmes de Gongora. Printed at the Studio of Roger Lacourière, Paris 1947. The issued edition was a total of 276 impressions on various papers printed in 1948.
Note: The issued edition does not have the date on the plate.

Provenance: Originally from the private collection of the printer Lacourière. Subsequently private collection, USA.

Superb rich impression. On cream Marais wove paper. Extremely fine condition; image worked to full sheet size (note the plate was larger than the sheet so no plate mark is visible) Sheet: 386x280mm. 15 1/4 x 11ins.
