Offer Instructions and Conditions
1. Offer period: Tuesday 30th August 10:00am. Closes: Friday 2nd September 4:00pm. (London time) 2011
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A REAL TIME AUCTION. We cannot guarantee any ‘Current offer’ listed on our website is fully up to date.
2. The works for sale are fully described and illustrated on our website: www.williamweston.co.uk. Click ‘Sale by Offer’ on our homepage. The description of each work is guaranteed. The terms of this ‘Sale by Offer’ apply only to works relevant section of our website, not to any other works listed on our website or in the gallery.
3. Each work can be VIEWED ON OUR WEBSITE (www.williamweston.co.uk) from Friday 26th August. Click ‘Sale by Offer’ on the gallery website home page. Then, having read the conditions of ‘Sale by Offer’, click the relevant thumbnail illustration to show an enlarged illustration and full description. Works can also be viewed on request at the gallery.
4. Prices: The website lists the full price at which the work would be offered in the gallery and the ‘Opening Offer Price’. During the Sale the website will also be updated at quickly as possible with the price of the latest offer received (see note above re: Sunday offers). The latest offer can also be checked by telephoning us. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A REAL TIME AUCTION. We cannot guarantee and ‘Current offer’ listed on our website is fully up to date.
5. Works will be sold to the highest offer above the ‘Opening offer’ price which has been received by 4:00pm (London time) at the close of the offer period on Friday 2nd September. Offer period closes at precisely 4:00pm. (London time)
6. All works are unmounted and unframed; condition as described. Mounting and framing will be available to purchasers at cost.
To Make an Offer:
1. Offers (which cannot be below at the ‘Opening offer’ price) should be sent by email or by fax.– You must include your name, full postal address and fax number, as well your email address (if any).
2. Commission offer. You may also send us (by email or fax) a commission offer on your behalf up to a maximum. You must include the details indicated above. Please list the artist’s name and item title, followed by your maximum offer. We will place an offer on your behalf, in the increments indicated below, up to your quoted maximum, so as to try to acquire the item as cheaply as possible against other offers received.
3. Offers must follow these increments:
£1000 - £4000 £100 minimum increase
£4000 - £10000 £200 minimum increase
Above £10000 and above £500 minimum increase
OFFERS MUST BE MADE IN POUNDS STERLING. A dollar equivalent of the ‘Opening offer’ price is included on the website but this is quoted for the convenience of clients only. Offers in dollars or other currencies will be converted into pounds sterling and rounded up to the nearest increment. The rate of exchange will be the rate valid in London on the day the offer is made – THE CALCULATION BY US OF THIS CONVERSION IS BINDING.
4. All offers received are firm offers and are not subject to cancellation by the client.
5. the website will be updated as quickly as possible to show the latest offers received. If simultaneous offers are received for any item at the close of the offer period then the highest offer received will be deemed to be the winning offer. In the case of offers of the same amount the first received will be deemed to have precedence. For clients who do not have email and who wish to bid by fax we will do our utmost to keep them informed by fax if their offer is overbid during the course of the sale so as to give them a chance to increase their offer. We cannot guarantee to be able to contact them, especially in the closing stages of the sale. Commission offers can also be left with us, as is detailed above, enabling us to act on a client’s behalf.
William Weston Gallery expressly takes no responsibility for the non-receipt or non-execution of any offer, however sent. Sending an offer implies full agreement with the offer and payment terms set out here.
6. Payments: Successful purchasers will be invoiced at the close of the ‘Sale by Offer’. Payment must be made within seven days by Credit Card, bank transfer or bank draft. Credit Card details should be sent to us by fax (not be e-mail for security reasons). Details must include card number, expiry date and confirmation of billing address.
Note: The ‘Sale by Offer’ applies only to the works detailed on our website under ‘Sale by Offer’. They do not apply to all works on our website or to other works in the gallery. The ‘Sale by Offer’ is only valid for the period of the sale as indicated above. William Weston Gallery reserves the right to refuse any offer or withdraw any of the works listed without having to state a reason.
